AutismPro Resource Manager is a web-based resource library and case management tool for teachers and autism teams.
It provides access to thousands of activities and lesson plans, teaching strategies, and behavioral support strategies, which can be easily incorporated into Individualized Educational Plans.
Resources can be assigned to an online case folder for each student.
If you have been registered for an AutismPro Resource Manager account, an account activation message titled 'Welcome to AutismPro Resource Manager!' will be sent to you by email.
Open the email message, and click on the activation link provided. You will be directed to the 'User name confirmation' screen in your web browser.
Enter your email address in the 'User Name' field, and click the 'Continue' button. You will be directed to the 'Choose a password' screen.
Enter a password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces.
Retype your new password in the 'Confirm New Password' field.
Click the 'Set' button to accept the terms of use and begin using AutismPro Resource Manager.
Some organizations who have purchased bulk licenses of AutismPro Resource Manager have been provided with a registration code to simplify the user registration process.
If you belong to such an organization and possess a registration code, you can register yourself for an AutismPro Resource Manager account.
Proceed to the AutismPro Resource Manager signin page (your organization will provide you with this link). Click the 'Register' link at the bottom of the screen. You will be directed to the 'Self-Registration Area'. Enter your first name in the 'First Name' field. Enter your last name in the 'Last Name' field. Enter your email address in the 'Email' field. Enter your registration code in the 'Registration Code' field. Click the 'Register' button. You will be directed to the 'Choose a password' screen. Enter a password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces. Retype your new password in the 'Confirm New Password' field. Click the 'Set' button to accept the terms of use and begin using AutismPro Resource Manager.
Navigate to http://www.autismpro.com in your web browser. You will be taken to the AutismPro home page.
Click the 'client sign in' button at the top right of the screen. You will be taken to the signin page for all AutismPro products.
In the 'User name' field, enter your email address.
Click the 'Continue' button.
If you are registered for multiple AutismPro products, you will be presented with a list of available products. Choose 'AutismPro Resource Manager' in the 'Application' dropdown box and click the 'Continue' button. You will be taken to the password entry screen.
In the Password field, enter the password provided to you. Note that your password is case sensitive. Upper case and lower case letters must be entered correctly.
Click the 'Sign in' button to begin using AutismPro Resource Manager.
If you have forgotten your AutismPro Resource Manager password, click the 'Forgot your password?' link on the signin page.
You will be taken to the 'Forgot Your Password?' screen and prompted to enter your user name (i.e., your email address).
Click the 'Continue' button to complete your request. AutismPro will soon send you an email with further instructions for changing your password.
Check your email program for a message titled 'Reset Your AutismPro Resource Manager Password'. Open the email and click the link enclosed. You will be directed to the 'Reset Your Password' screen.
Enter your User Name (your email address) and click 'Continue'. You will be directed to the 'Set Your Password' screen.
Enter a new password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces.
Retype the password in the 'Confirm New Password' field. Click the 'Set' button to set your new password.
Click the 'Continue' button to begin using AutismPro Resource Manager.
On the Main Page of AutismPro Resource Manager, the 'Resources' tab provides access to a variety of different resources to assist you in working with children with developmental disorders.
Beneath the 'Resources' tab are four tabs that correspond to the different resource types you can search for:
1) The 'Curriculum Search' tab allows you to browse through the objectives of the AutismPro developmental curriculum and add objectives and activities to the child's case.
2) The 'Support Strategies' tab allows you to browse and add strategies to the child's case for working on developmental skills and preventing challenging behaviors.
3) The 'Teaching Strategies' tab allows you to browse and add strategies to the child's case that will enhance your teaching approach for a child with autism.
4) The 'Activity Search' tab provides you with a search form to find activities that can be added to the child's case.
You can change your Autism Resource password under the 'My Account' tab.
To begin, click the 'User Profile' tab. You will see the 'Change Password' icon to the right of the screen.
Click the icon, and you will be directed to the 'Change Password' screen.
To change your password:
Enter your existing password in the 'Current Password' field
Enter a new password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces.
Retype your new password in the 'Confirm New Password' field
To add a student to an existing class, first select the class in your 'My Classes' list. The 'Class Details' panel will be displayed to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Manage Students in Class' icon, and the 'Student Details' panel will appear.
Click the 'New' button.
Enter the student's name in the 'Student' field, according to the naming conventions decided by your school.
Then click the 'Save' button. The new student will appear in the 'My Students' list.
To edit the details of an existing student, select the student's name in the 'My Students' list. The 'Student Details' panel will be displayed to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Edit' button, then edit the student's name in the 'Student Name' field.
To add a team member to a student's team, select the student's name in the 'My Students' list. The 'Student Details' panel will be displayed to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Manage Team for Student' icon. A list of available educators for your organization will be displayed in the 'Available Teachers' list.
Click the 'Add to Team' button beside any teacher who you would like to become part of the student's team.
A confirmation dialog will appear. Click 'OK'.
The teacher's name will appear in the child's team above.
To delete a team member from a student's team, select the team member's name in the student's team member list. The 'Team Member Details' panel will be displayed to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Delete' button. A dialog will appear asking you to confirm that you really want to delete the team member.
Click 'OK' to delete the team member. The deleted team member will be notified by email of the change.
By default, team members have permission only to view a student's case folder. They are not permitted to make changes to the folder, nor to view or edit the student's journal.
To modify these privileges, select the team member name in the student's team member list. The 'Team Member Details' panel will be displayed to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Edit' button, then check the privileges that you would like the team member to have: Edit Journal, View Journal, and/or Update Student Folder.
The 'Curriculum Search' tab allows you to browse through the objectives of the AutismPro developmental curriculum, obtain activities for each objective, and add these activities to the student's case folder.
The AutismPro curriculum is divided into eight core developmental areas (Social, Emotional, Communication, Receptive Language, Expressive Language, Academics, Independence, and Motor).
Across the top of the 'Curriculum Search' panel, you will see tabs corresponding to each of these areas. Click on a tab to view curriculum goals for that developmental area.
Each developmental area in the AutismPro curriculum is divided into a number of sub-areas or 'goals'. The Communication developmental area, for example, is divided into fours subareas: Nonverbal Communication, Verbal Communication, Prosocial Communication, and Conversation Skills.
Choose a goal from the dropdown menu. A list of corresponding objectives will be displayed below.
Once you have selected a developmental area and goal on the 'Curriculum Search' tab, a list of 12 objectives are displayed below. Objectives describe specific skills to learn, such as 'Sits or stands at a natural distance when communicating with you'.
Objectives are organized by level of difficulty: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.
When you click on an objective, details for that objective are displayed in the panel to the right of the screen.
If you would like to add the objective to the student's case folder, click the 'Add Objective to Student Folder' icon.
If you would like to see a list of activities for that objective, click the 'View Activities for Objective' icon.
When you select an objective under the 'Curriculum Search' tab, the 'Objective Details' panel is displayed to the right.
To add the selected objective to the student's case folder, click the 'Add Objective to Student Folder' icon. A dialog will display, prompting you to:
Select the student's school
Select the student's class
Select the student's name
To the right of the student identification info are three checkboxes that allow you to indicate which method type you would like to draw activities from: Behavioral, Developmental, and/or Social activities.
When you have made your selection, click the 'Add' button. A dialog will be displayed indicating how many activities for that objective have been added to the student's case folder.
When you are finished, click the 'OK' button, and then the 'Close' button.
When you click on the 'View Activities for Objective' icon under the 'Curriculum Search' tab, a list of activities are displayed. Activities are lessons or procedures that you can follow to work on a specific objective.
When you click on an activity icon, details for that activity are displayed in the panel to the right of the screen..
Each activity is tagged by Method Type (Behavioral, Developmental, Social), as well as Category and Setting.
Click the 'Open Activity' icon to view the text of an activity and print it.
If you would like to add the activity to the student's case folder, click the 'Add Activity to Student Folder' icon.
The 'Support Strategies' tab gives you access to support strategy examples. These are techniques for working on the child's skills and preventing challenging behaviors. Support strategies can be added to a student's case folder.
AutismPro support strategies are divided into seven areas: Curriculum, Independence Social, Inclusion, Communication, Sensory Regulation, and Rituals.
Across the top of the 'Support Strategies' panel, you will see seven tabs corresponding to each of these areas. Click on a tab to view support strategies for that area.
After determining which strategy area you feel may be contributing to the child's problem behavior, click the corresponding support strategy tab -- for example, 'Communication'. A dropdown list of support problems for that area is displayed below.
When you select a problem, support strategy examples will be listed below. These are designed to help prevent or minimize the stated problem.
Select a support strategy example by clicking on it. To the right of the screen, you will see a description of the specific problem that the support strategy example is designed to solve. Click the 'more' link to view the complete description text.
To view and print a strategy, click the 'Open Strategy Example' icon.
To add a strategy to the student's case folder, click the 'Add Strategy Example to Student Folder' icon.
The 'Teaching Strategies' tab allows you to browse through techniques for tailoring your teaching approach for a child with autism. You can also add a strategy to a student's case folder.
AutismPro teaching strategies are divided into three categories: Preparing the environment, Interacting with the child, and Responding to the child.
Across the top of the 'Teaching Strategies' panel, you will see three tabs corresponding to each of these categories. Click on a tab to view teaching strategies for that category.
When you click on a teaching strategy tab such as 'Interact,' a list of teaching strategies are displayed below. Strategies are divided into four areas such as:
What kind of language should I use when interacting with the child? What kind of affect (demeanor) should I use when interacting with the child? How should I prompt the child? How should I use repetition when interacting with the child?
You can select a teaching strategy icon by clicking on it. To the right of the screen, details of the strategy will be displayed, including:
The strategy area The strategy method, and A description of the strategy. Click the 'more' link to view the complete description text.
To view and print a strategy, click the 'Open Strategy' icon.
To view a video example of the strategy being used, click the 'Video Example' icon.
To add a strategy to the student's case folder, click the 'Add Strategy to Student Folder' icon.
When a strategy has been selected under the 'Teaching Strategies' tab, you can view a video of that strategy in use by clicking the 'Video Example' icon.
The 'Activity Search' tab provides you with a search form to find activities that meet your specified criteria, and add them to the student's case folder. You can search for activities by:
To find activities using the search form under the 'Activity Search' tab:
Check one or more methods in the 'Method' section of the form: Behavioral, Developmental, and/or Social
Choose a level of difficulty in the 'Curriculum Level' section of the form: Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced
Check one or more topics in the 'Category' section of the form; for example, Art and Music. Or, select 'All' to specify all categories.
Check one or more 'Setting' boxes:
('Group' refers to activities with a group of peers 'Peer' refers to activities with the child and one other peer 'Adult-Peer' refers to one-on-one activities.)
Click the 'Search' button. Activities that match your selections will be displayed to the left of the screen.
You can clear the results of a search by clicking the 'Clear' button at the bottom of the Activity Search form.
Users of AutismPro Resource Manager have the ability to give a rating to activities, teaching strategies, and support strategies.
To rate a resource, scroll to the bottom of the resource and click the 'Rate this resource' icon.
A popup will be displayed containing five stars. Click one of the stars to provide your rating. A five star rating should reflect a resource that is easy to understand, easy to implement, and which meets its stated objective.
If you would like to comment on the resource, enter your thoughts in the 'Comment' field. Click the 'Save' button to submit your rating.
Your rating will be averaged with all other ratings for that resource and displayed at the bottom right corner of the screen.
The 'Classroom' tab of AutismPro Resource Manager contains tools for managing resources within the case folder of each student.
By default, the last class that you accessed is displayed on the screen.
If you would like to see a list of students for some other class, click the 'change' link at the top of the screen. A dialog will be displayed, prompting you to select a different school, and class, from the dropdown menus.
Click the 'Ok' button to continue. The new list of students will be displayed below.
The 'Curriculum' tab in a student's case folder contains a list of objectives and activities assigned to the student. To view the student's objectives:
Click a developmental area tab (for example, 'Communication'). A dropdown list of goals will be displayed below.
Select a goal from the 'Goals for this developmental area' dropdown list (for example, 'Improve the child's skills in the area of Nonverbal Communication').
The student's objectives for this goal will be displayed below.
For each objective listed in the 'Curriculum' tab, a list of selected activities can be displayed by clicking the 'Show Activities...' icon to the left of the objective.
The objectives area will expand and activities will be listed below.
Clicking on an activity name will display the full text of that activity.
To hide the activities list, click the 'Hide Activities...' icon.
To view the support strategy examples in the student's case folder, click the 'Support Strategies' tab. A dropdown list of problem behaviors will be listed below.
Choose a problem behavior from the list. Strategy examples for that problem will be listed below.
Click a support strategy example. Details will appear in the 'Strategy Example' panel to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Open Strategy Example' icon. The complete text of the support strategy example will be displayed.
To delete a support strategy example, click the strategy example to select it. Details will appear in the 'Strategy Example' panel to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Delete Strategy Example' icon. A dialog will be appear asking for your confirmation.
To view the video example for a teaching strategy, click the strategy to select it. Details for the strategy will appear in the 'Strategy Details' panel to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Video Example' icon. A video illustration of the strategy will be displayed.
To delete a teaching strategy, click the strategy to select it. Details for the strategy will appear in the 'Strategy Details' panel to the right of the screen.
Click the 'Delete Strategy' icon. A dialog will be appear asking for your confirmation.
To search the AutismPro resource library for specific resources, click the 'Search' tab at the top of the screen. A simple search field will be displayed.
Enter one or more terms in the search field, such as 'transition routine'. Click the 'Search' button, or press 'Enter' to perform the search.
By default, the search will retrieve all resources that contain either the word 'transition' or the word 'routine'.
If you would to perform a narrower search, and find only resources containing the exact phrase that you have entered, select the 'exact phrase' checkbox.
Your search results are grouped into various categories of results: Activities, Support Strategies, Support Strategy Examples, Teaching Strategies, Workshops, Definitions, and FAQs.
Click on a tab to see the search results. Click on a link to view the resource.
If you would like to add the resource to the student's folder, close the resource by clicking the X at the top right corner, and add the resource as you normally would.
