AutismPro Resources is a web-based resource library for teachers and autism teams.
It provides access to thousands of activities and lesson plans, teaching strategies, and behavioral support strategies which can be easily incorporated into Individualized Educational Plans.
If you have been registered for an AutismPro Resources account, an account activation message titled 'Welcome to AutismPro Resources!' will be sent to you by email.
Open the email message, and click on the activation link provided. You will be directed to the 'User name confirmation' screen in your web browser.
Enter your email address in the 'User Name' field, and click the 'Continue' button. You will be directed to the 'Choose a password' screen.
Enter a password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces.
Retype your new password in the 'Confirm New Password' field.
Click the 'Set' button to accept the terms of use and begin using AutismPro Resources.
Some organizations who have purchased bulk licenses of AutismPro Resources have been provided with a registration code to simplify the user registration process.
If you belong to such an organization and possess a registration code, you can register yourself for an AutismPro Resources account.
Proceed to the AutismPro Resources signin page (your organization will provide you with this link). Click the 'Register' link at the bottom of the screen. You will be directed to the 'Self-Registration Area'. Enter your first name in the 'First Name' field. Enter your last name in the 'Last Name' field. Enter your email address in the 'Email' field. Enter your registration code in the 'Registration Code' field. Click the 'Register' button. You will be directed to the 'Choose a password' screen. Enter a password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces. Retype your new password in the 'Confirm New Password' field. Click the 'Set' button to accept the terms of use and begin using AutismPro Resources.
Navigate to http://www.autismpro.com in your web browser. You will be taken to the AutismPro home page.
Click the 'client sign in' button at the top right of the screen. You will be taken to the signin page for all AutismPro products.
In the 'User name' field, enter your email address.
Click the 'Continue' button.
If you are registered for multiple AutismPro products, you will be presented with a list of available products. Choose 'AutismPro Resources' in the 'Application' dropdown box and click the 'Continue' button. You will be taken to the password entry screen.
In the Password field, enter the password provided to you. Note that your password is case sensitive. Upper case and lower case letters must be entered correctly.
Click the 'Sign in' button to begin using AutismPro Resources.
If you have forgotten your AutismPro Resources password, click the 'Forgot your password?' link on the signin page.
You will be taken to the 'Forgot Your Password?' screen and prompted to enter your user name (i.e., your email address).
Click the 'Continue' button to complete your request. AutismPro will soon send you an email with further instructions for changing your password.
Check your email program for a message titled 'Reset Your AutismPro Resource Password'. Open the email and click the link enclosed. You will be directed to the 'Reset Your Password' screen.
Enter your User Name (your email address) and click 'Continue'. You will be directed to the 'Set Your Password' screen.
Enter a new password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces.
Retype the password in the 'Confirm New Password' field. Click the 'Set' button to set your new password.
Click the 'Continue' button to begin using AutismPro Resources.
On the Main Page of AutismPro Resources, the 'Resources' tab provides access to a variety of different resources to assist you in working with children with autism.
Beneath the 'Resources' tab are four tabs that correspond to the different resource types you can search:
1) The 'Curriculum Search' tab allows you to browse through the objectives of the AutismPro developmental curriculum and obtain activities for each objective.
2) The 'Support Strategies' tab allows you to browse through strategies for working on the child's skills and preventing challenging behaviors.
3) The 'Teaching Strategies' tab allows you to browse for strategies that will enhance your teaching approach with a child with autism.
4) The 'Activity Search' tab provides you with a search form to find activities by various categories.
The 'Curriculum Search' tab allows you to browse through the objectives of the AutismPro developmental curriculum and obtain activities for each objective.
The AutismPro curriculum is divided into eight core developmental areas (Social, Emotional, Communication, Receptive Language, Expressive Language, Academics, Independence, and Motor).
Across the top of the 'Curriculum Search' panel, you will see tabs corresponding to each of these areas. Click on a tab to view curriculum goals for that developmental area.
Each developmental area in the AutismPro curriculum is divided into a number of sub-areas or 'goals'. The Communication developmental area, for example, is divided into fours subareas: Nonverbal Communication, Verbal Communication, Prosocial Communication, and Conversation Skills.
Choose a goal from the dropdown menu. A list of objectives will be displayed below.
Once you have selected a developmental area and goal on the 'Curriculum Search' tab, a list of 12 objectives is displayed below. Objectives describe specific skills to learn, such as 'Sits or stands at a natural distance when communicating with you'.
Objectives are organized by level of difficulty: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.
When you click on an objective, details for that objective are displayed in the panel to the right of the screen.
If you would like to see activities for that objective, click the 'View Activities for Objective' icon. A list of applicable activities will appear on the screen.
When you click on the 'View Activities for Objective' icon under the 'Curriculum Search' tab, a list of activities are displayed. Activities are lessons or procedures that you can follow to work on a specific objective.
When you click on an activity icon, details for that activity are displayed in the panel to the right of the screen.
Each activity is tagged by Method Type (Behavioral, Developmental, Social), as well as Setting, Curriculum Level, and Category.
Click the 'Open Activity' icon to view the text of an activity and print it.
The 'Support Strategies' tab gives you access to support strategy examples. These are techniques for working on the child's skills and preventing challenging behaviors.
AutismPro support strategies are divided into seven areas: Curriculum, Independence Social, Inclusion, Communication, Sensory Regulation, and Rituals.
Across the top of the 'Support Strategies' panel, you will see seven tabs corresponding to each of these areas. Click on a tab to view support strategies for that area.
After determining which strategy area you feel may be contributing to the child's problem behavior, click the corresponding support strategy tab -- for example, 'Communication'. A dropdown list of support problems for that area is displayed below.
When you select a problem, support strategy examples will be listed below. These are designed to help prevent or minimize the stated problem.
Select a support strategy example by clicking on it. To the right of the screen, you will see a description of the specific problem that the support strategy example is designed to solve. Click the 'more' link to view the complete description text.
To view and print a strategy, click the 'Open Strategy Example' icon.
The 'Teaching Strategies' tab allows you to browse through techniques for tailoring your teaching approach for a child with autism.
AutismPro teaching strategies are divided into three categories: Preparing the environment, Interacting with the child, and Responding to the child.
Across the top of the 'Teaching Strategies' panel, you will see three tabs corresponding to each of these categories. Click on a tab to view teaching strategies for that category.
When you click on a teaching strategy tab such as 'Interact,' a list of teaching strategies are displayed below. Strategies are divided into four areas such as:
What kind of language should I use when interacting with the child?
What kind of affect (demeanor) should I use when interacting with the child?
How should I prompt the child?
How should I use repetition when interacting with the child?
You can select a teaching strategy icon by clicking on it. To the right of the screen, details of the strategy will be displayed, including:
The strategy area
The strategy method, and
A description of the strategy. Click the 'more' link to view the complete description text.
To view and print a strategy, click the 'Open Strategy' icon.
To view a video example of the strategy being used, click the 'Video Example' icon.
To find activities using the search form under the 'Activity Search' tab:
Check one or more methods in the 'Method' section of the form: Behavioral, Developmental, and/or Social
Choose a level of difficulty in the 'Curriculum Level' section of the form: Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced
Check one or more topics in the 'Category' section of the form; for example, Art and Music. Or, select 'All' to specify all categories.
Check one or more 'Setting' boxes:
('Group' refers to activities with a group of peers 'Peer' refers to activities with the child and one other peer 'Adult-Child' refers to one-on-one activities.)
Click the 'Search' button. Activities that match your selections will be displayed to the left of the screen.
You can clear the results of a search by clicking the 'Clear' button at the bottom of the Activity Search form.
Users of AutismPro Resources have the ability to give a rating to activities, teaching strategies, and support strategies.
To rate a resource, scroll to the bottom of the resource and click the 'Rate this resource' icon.
A popup will be displayed containing five stars. Click one of the stars to provide your rating. A five star rating should reflect a resource that is easy to understand, easy to implement, and which meets its stated objective.
If you would like to comment on the resource, enter your thoughts in the 'Comment' field. Click the 'Save' button to submit your rating.
Your rating will be averaged with all other ratings for that resource and displayed at the bottom right corner of the screen.
You can change your Autism Resources password under the 'My Account' tab.
Click the 'Change Password' icon to the right of the screen. You will be taken to the 'Change Password' screen.
To change your password:
Enter your existing password in the 'Current Password' field. Note that your password is case sensitive. Upper case and lower case letters must be entered correctly.
Enter a new password in the 'New Password' field. Note that your new password must be between 8 and 16 characters long, with at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and no spaces.
Retype your new password in the 'Confirm New Password' field
To search the AutismPro resource library for specific resources, click the 'Search' tab at the top of the screen. A simple search field will be displayed.
Enter one or more terms in the search field, such as 'transition routine'. Click the 'Search' button, or press 'Enter' to perform the search.
By default, the search will retrieve all resources that contain either the word 'transition' or the word 'routine'.
If you would to perform a narrower search, and find only resources containing the exact phrase that you have entered, select the 'exact phrase' checkbox.
Your search results are grouped into various categories of results: Activities, Support Strategies, Support Strategy Examples, Teaching Strategies, Workshops, Definitions, and FAQs.
Click on a tab to see the search results. Click on a link to view the resource.
